Mark, do you know what kind of wood the spokes are made from? By the pictures they look like white oak. Hickory is what Ford used.

No I don't know but might be oak, and yes I know all the back stories on oak. For what use this car will be used for, oak or not, they will be fine. The 25 that they are going on will never subjected to high speed stress, unless someone hit me from the side and even then hickory would break too.

Re: My ebay spokes making tenons and cutting radius for center
In the day there were tenon cutting tools, there were two components, the first tool cut the taper and the second tool cut the tenon. It would take about 15 seconds to do a spoke. The depth and diameter was set so they were all the same. The photos are the first component that cut the taper, tenon cutters are available at quality tool stores.

Re: My ebay spokes making tenons and cutting radius for center
While I don't the the starting cone I do have 2 tenon cutters. The problem with them is they only cut to X size. While you may have 1/2 or 5/8" tenons, they really are a bit larger for crush and the cutters don't leave a fillet at the bottom as needed. Other issues with the ones I have were; diameter of stock, age of wood and dryness.
In any case the 2ed wheel was a flop. My fixes made everything worse. Too much to going to typing it down, but lessons what not to do for future.
